Why does research, preventative information and treatment for males have lower priority than females?

I believe that equal funds should be allocated to research, prevention, information and treatment for male-only diseases (prostate cancer and testicular cancer) as they are to female-only diseases.

What do you think? Linking to a source would be great but opinions are interesting too, lol.

Why?

Why does research, preventative information and treatment for males have lower priority than females?
Because they realized several decades ago, that all the research, preventative information and treatment WAS for males and was being used for - and on - women as well. An Epiphany occurred - now the pendulum has swung the other way. I trust like most everything else, it'll soon settle down more in balance.
Reply:Of course you are right but you are only going to get it by demanding and fighting for it. It's the way of the world.

PS... vote for Hillary!
Reply:Because women appear in more ads than men do.

Theyre a very effective advertising tool, so they need to do as much research to protect such and asset.
Reply:I have no idea where you get your information from but for years women weren't included in medical research because most of the medical researchers were men. Most medications were tested on men procedures were done on men. It's only been in the last 20 years or so that medical research has started to include women. My mother is one of the nurses in the Harvard nurses research study that found out about HRT and it's effect on the incidences of heart diseases in women. This was the first major research done using women. All of the medical research up to than was done on men. Joint replacement surgery is based on a man's joints and they aren't made the same way that womens joints are. Most of the medical knowledge about diseases and disorders we know are based on what worked for men not women and now we're finding out that men are different than women. We don't have the same symptoms of heart attacks and strokes as men. Because we're smaller on average medicine works different in women than men. We are just now trying to even the playing feild.
Reply:I second what Devil's advocate stated. There is a lack of advocacy for men's health issues.
Reply:Prostate cancer and testicular cancer have excellent outcomes if diagnosed early. Breast cancer is far more dangerous.

What I think is disproportionate is AIDS research vs heart disease. But that's another discussion altogether.
Reply:women get sick much more than men do.... an we got a lot more things that can go wrong with our bodies... so we need more funds for our diseases...
Reply:My opinion only.

With the enormous cost to countries for what feminism has fought for and been given, it will be an enormous battle to either get the government to spend the same amount or to get women to relinquish half of their budget for men.
Reply:Cutting off a breast is more disfiguring than cutting off a testicle.
Reply:I think the biggest reason is probably that there are really no large male advocacy movements yet to lobby for their interests.
Reply:I don't know. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we just don't have the same number of men's advocacy groups as women's groups. I think it is a travesty.

And for the woman who said losing a breast is more disfiguring than losing a testicle, get over yourself. Do you think that men really don't care about losing one?? Seriously? It is just as big of a deal to a man, the only difference is that everyone can't see that it's missing. Having a special part of your body hacked off is just as traumatizing to a man. Sheesh.
Reply:I agree.

The reason why women receive more funding than men is because gov'ts are cow-towing and meeting each and every demand from selfish women's groups who in turn have billions in funding allocated to them, whether it's in health, programs, women in business, etc. This has been the case since the 60s and also explains why women on average live years longer than men now.
Reply:women worry more about that stuff than men do. thats why.
Reply:I dare say that most males will not get treatment for male cancers. They would rather change their diets. This is probably a case of supply and demand in many cases. I changed my diet and got rid of lumps.. Women won't do that, not the ones I know. They like their fats and sugars too much. This life is tougher than some think.
