Wondering if anyone else heard about how the World Cancer Research Fund declared processed meat unsafe for human consumption because it contains sodium nitrate which causes cancer. What do you think about this? You can read the article on Newstarget.
Did anyone hear the news about processed meats %26amp; cancer??
I have heard this, in several forms for many years. It used to be just warnings about hot dogs, but yes, I have heard this about all processed meats now. My husband died young, last year, of pancreas cancer, which is strongly linked to eating a lot of hotdogs, ham, sliced deli meats, etc. so, Ihave changed the foods I allow my children to eat, and no deli, no ham, I now try to get as natural as possible, well, they can have deli, but it has to be uncured. Trader Joe's carries this, as well as organic grocery stores. yes it's more expensive, but what is the true cost of eating nitrates and nitrites??
Reply:u know, in the next 20 years, we wont be able to eat anything anymore, because everythin will be linked to cancer and disease, carry on eating processed meats, and the like, i eat it, all my family eat it, prob nextdoor eats it to, its just so anoying when u turn the tv on and yet another health scare has erupted, my uncle (who was very health conscious) done everythin the government told him, he stopped eating red meat, ate is 5 a day, didnt smoke, didnt drink, always excersised, didnt eat anythin processed!! and died of lung cancer last year at just the age of 60! so u see, its the luck of the draw, some peeps are just more susepitable than others to any disease, can be aggreviated through lifestyle factors(obviously wasnt the case for my uncle) do you get what im saying? anything in moderation is great! dont punish yourself, through what scientists find out, or what the government say, mor often they dont have enough solid evidence anyway
Reply:I never eat the crap!
Reply:I've heard reports before and there is no clinical scientific evidence that proves that processed meats are unsafe for human consumption. The World Cancer Research Fund and Newstarget are not exactly fair or balanced in their reports. Anyway, it has been reported in the past to limit your intact of processed meat, . . and that is probably a good thing to do as far as a healthy diet is concerned anyway. Moderation is always the key . . don't overdo any of these things. But, if you eat a sandwich occasionally using processed meat . . you probably won't get cancer. Incidentally . . . cancer is an ancient disease. There was no processed meat thousands of years ago . . and people still got cancer.
Reply:yes, but still we are all eating it but not always.....they said all processed meat n delis are all cancer prone and eating it will cause you the disease.we all must eat just the right food ie ...fruits n vegetables...lots n lots of them.........NIKKA
