What are the chances that this is cancer?

My mom has to have a D%26amp;C because they found a growth in her uterus. She is 55 years old and in good health. She told me that she had started menapause for about 8 months then she started bleeding really bad then stopped and has had no problems since then. It has been several months. The doctor though wants to find out if this is cancer. I am really worried. What are the chances that this is cancer? I have done some research and found out that many women have growths in their uterus that are not cancerous. Does anyone have any thoughts or experince with this?

What are the chances that this is cancer?
It could well be fibroids, VERY common, and easy to cure.
Reply:it is most likely not cancer and it sounds like the doctor is doing the right things anyway so wait and see
Reply:Don't jump to conclusions based on what you have researched. Wait for the test results and then go form there.

Reply:You have reason to worry because it is your mom and you are concerned for her. But it may just be a growth. Think positive. Yoou really can't tell until the doctor does the test. You will just have to wait for the results. I am sorry I can't give you any better news right now. But you will have to just be supportive to your mom for her sake right now.
Reply:I'm dealing with the cancer issue with my wife right now buy she's not going to make it. First off get a good DR and make sure u get a 2nd opinion. All cancer's are not malignant the growth might be able to be taken out. It's such a broad area your not going to know until u take the Cat and Pet scans but the sooner the better. It's a hideous disease that right now is taking the life of a beauiftul person who never did anyone wrong and for what reason? I wish u luck !!
Reply:My thought, I doubt it is cancer.

Many women have cysts and growths as they get older.

Don't worry your little head about it just yet.

Let the Dr.s do their thing and take it from there.

When the tests come back, you'll cross that bridge.
Reply:It's hard to say the exact chances that it is cancer... it could have been fibroids which are non-cancerous masses in the uterus. It is good that the dr wants to look into this with a fine toothed comb, best to be on the safe side. Considering her age and that she's gone through menopause, there is no real need for her uterus, so it's good that they removed it in the even that it was cancerous. Did they not test the growth??
Reply:Slim chance it is cancer. This is very common for women her age. But the doctor should check her thoroughtly and make sure. Nothing you can do about it, so quit worrying. You have to accept life as it comes. If the news is good, celebrate. If not, deal with it. Sometimes life isn't very nice, but it's all we have.
