Curing cancer... is it a hopeless quest?

I've been around since the 1970s. All my life, I've been

hearing about these "wonderful breakthroughs" in cancer

research... my teachers telling me as a little kid, that cancer

would be 100% cured by the time I grew up (this after a

teacher at my school died of cancer in 1976 or therebouts);

that a cure was "right around the corner."

*Well, its been the LONGEST goddam corner I've ever seen.*

Almost 40 years gone by since Nixon declared "war" on cancer. And cancer treatment is damn near as useless TODAY, as it was back then.

Could it be, that we as a species lack the intelligence to find

a cure for cancer? (Just like a chimpanzee lacks the intelligence to build a car?)

Perhaps a cure for cancer is MANY THOUSANDS of years away (even if our civilization doesn't collapse beforehand.) Could it be, that medical science has gone as far as it can, given our mental capacity as a species? And now it will stagnate, unchanging, for thousands of centuries - even as it has for the last 50 years?

Curing cancer... is it a hopeless quest?
well there are many deseases that we thought that we wouldnt be able to cure but after some time came up with a vaccine. it may take thousand of years but sooner or later, we'll find a cure for it. but then again, with the body being able to adapt and change, one day the body will be able to fight off cancer on it own.
Reply:Cancer involves many different cancers. Cancer is not just one type of thing. Certainly many types have been "cured". It's just that there are many more that have not. Many strides have been made. They have found 16 different viruses that cause cancer that are spread through sex (STDs). They have a vaccine that prevents 4 of these viruses and are soon to release a vaccine that prevents 8 of these viral infections. These cancers cause throat cancer, penile cancer, uterine cancer, rectal cancer, etc. Anywhere the viruses infect. Isn't that a fabulous advancement that people can get a vaccine to prevent getting these? Have hope.... they are working on it!

Reply:The cure itself may be a long time away, but we can all do a better ob of eating whole foods - the foods God provides, and drinking lots of water. I believe it's the toxins in all of the processed foods we are eating as a society.
Reply:Curing cancer is not a hopeless quest. Many people get "cured" every day. There are many types of cancer and we are not concentrating on just one...it is actually many diseases, not just one. It's hard to beat something that every human being carries (with all of us having cancer cells).

Do not believe our species is incapable of finding an answer.

Hope is always the best battle against anything...it is best we don't give up.

They keep saying we are just around the corner from curing many diseases...the reality is that we could have a breakthrough any day...or not.

Just keep on believing.
Reply:yeah there is a cure for cancer....the thing is "they" don't want you to know about it...it's called stop eating all the fast food and all the food they sell in stores..organic is the only way along with getting rid of all body products such as shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, suntan lotion...do you know that sun tan lotion has actually been proven to cause cancer? I could go on and on about this but I can't...go look at organic and natural health remedies...;
