Stomach cancer? Serious answers only please.?

Do you know somebody that's had stagell stomach cancer and gone on to lead a normal happy life? I have read the statistics on the cancer research site, but would like to know about personal accounts.

Stomach cancer? Serious answers only please.?
My teenage son has stage IV abdominal sarcoma. The disease was within the abdominal cavity rather than in the stomach tissue. He underwent high dose chemotherapy, surgery, cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic chemoperfusion, low dose chemo, and will do a stem cell rescue in a few weeks. In between treatment he finished high school, graduated with his class, and has taken college classes. He just got back from a trip across the country . . in other words, other than having cancer and being treated for it he has been living a fairly normal life.

It's not easy, but it can be done.

I know that's not exactly what you were looking for, and others who do have stomach cancer may chime in. You might want to check with Stomach Cancer Support groups for first hand experience:

Reply:The answer by " footbalgrl" can not happen. Do not get alarmed. I have come across many stomach cancers and the treatemtns for it are same like other cancer.

Treatment

Because symptoms of stomach cancer are so mild, treatment often does not commence until the disease is well advanced. The three standard modes of treatment for stomach cancer include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. While deciding on the patient's treatment plan, the doctor takes into account many factors. The location of the cancer and its stage are important considerations. In addition, the patient's age, general health status, and personal preferences are also taken into account.

Since you ae talking about Stage II cancer it may be considered as early stage so far as Stomach Cancer is concerned. Overall, approximately 20% of patients with stomach cancer live at least five years following diagnosis. Patients diagnosed with stomach cancer in its early stages have a far better prognosis than those for whom it is in the later stages. In the early stages, the tumor is small, lymph nodes are unaffected, and the cancer has not migrated to the lungs or the liver. Unfortunately, only about 20% of patients with stomach cancer are diagnosed before the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes or formed a distant metastasis.

Please do not get carried away by the answers given by different persons. Only the decision and advise of the Oncologist should be taken as final for treatments, as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA.
Reply:This is for jayaraman. A stomach can be removed....How do you know it is not possible if you have never heard of it? And I know you have never heard of it because you say that it cant be done. It has been done, and there are a number of cases like this because the person had stomach cancer. My friend lead a life after curing his stomach cancer. It was cut off and they didnt cut off the whole stomach. But, he died about 9 years later because he had stomach cancer again and had liver cancer also. The problem with the stapling of the stomach was that he kept on getting bleeding in his stomach. It was dangerous.
Reply:I heard a story about a girl who had stomach cancer. She actualy had the stomach removed! I am not even kidding.
Reply:Try Vitamin C therapy. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram. The good part was that Interferon was a product of the natural breakdown of Vitamin C in your system. The FDA says that the RDA for Vit C is 64 mg a day, just enough to prevent scurvy. Linus Pauling, who got a Nobel Prize for his work with Vit C and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemistry, said 1000 mg a day as a minimum and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. On a personal note, I was sick twice a year, for 2 weeks at a time, for 20 years, and was flat on my back for at least a week each time. To this day the doctors have no idea what the problem was. After I gave up on the doctors I tried Vit C. I took enough to keep from being sick and just below too much to get diarrhea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks with a peak at 40,000 mg a day – about 300,000 over the 2 weeks. I was not sick for those 2 weeks and after a couple of years of that I have not been sick since. I did not dissolve my kidneys, as some doctors said would happen. I did not get any calcium build up or stones and did not dissolve my cones or solidify my joints. Try it, but drink a lot of water – Vit C is a natural diuretic.
