Do Americans Die From Cancer More Than Any Other Nation in the World?

Everywhere I turn my head in the U.S, I meet someone who has cancer, has a loved one with cancer, or survived (or died).

I think the cancer rate in this country is so catastrophic, more so than any other nation in the world. I don't think even very developing countries have the cancer problems we do. Why is that? Is the food and processed junk mostly to blame? If so, why do I meet or have heard of so many "heatlhy" people (don't smoke, eat right, excecise) who have developed or died from cancer when they are still pretty young?

We put so much money (or least that's what they say) into cancer research, yet so many healthy Americans die from it every year at increasing alarming rates. Americans use sunscreen frantically, yet we die from skin cancer more than any other nation (I actually have a holistic practicing friend who says SUNSCREEN itself actually causes skin cancer).

Are Americans dying at a much younger age? It sure seems like it!

Try to think of it this way . . you are noticing cancer more and more not because people are getting it more . .what is happening is that more and more people are SURVIVING cancer. In the past people simply died and you never heard about it . .that was how fast cancer traveled . .there were hardly any treatments that lead to remission. In today's world people are getting treatments and living longer than they ever did in the past.

The cancer statistics gathered for the US in 2007 indicate an overall decline in cancer deaths and incidence (depending on the type of cancers).

You can study the cancer statistics by each country in the world . In the US . . and in industrialized areas . . there are people who get cancer . .but who are treated and survive . .whereas in the third world nations people are still getting cancer but they are dying because of lack of good medical treatments.
