If you were rich and had £1 million pounds to distribute to charity?

who would you give it to and why?

I give small monthly amounts to the PDSA, Save the Children and Cancer Research. I also give £10.00 per month to the charity I manage (older people). So I guess I would split the million quid 4 ways amongst these charities.

If you were rich and had £1 million pounds to distribute to charity?
I would donate half to the Anthony Nolan trust ....

My hubby just donated white blood cells last month and the following day the man received them...

Anthony Nolan trust looked after my husband very well

Then i would donate the rest to a community project for the elderly in my area ...

Not enough is being done for our people in their Autumn years and many spend days alone with no one to talk to etc
Reply:cancer research and LETBR lincolnshire essex and trent boxer rescue i love these people
Reply:i too give £5.00 a month to the RSPCA..and they would be my first charity to share with.

MacMillan nurses who i collect for in my shop would be my second choice.

both of these charities do fantastic work %26amp; are close to my heart..so they would get half a million each...that would make a difference to them!
Reply:easy- the clubs i help at for people with disabilities, homeless organisations, cancer orgs, camp for sick kids, oh theres too many to choose from- anyone who wanted/ needed it!
Reply:I would give the majority to cancer research, some to water aid in africa and cancer care.
Reply:diabetes charity, it seems to get over looked all the time, it affects so many people and has such devastating effects, it need all the help it can get
Reply:Cancer Research, Marie Curie, NSPCC %26amp; PDSA
Reply:National Canine Defence League (DogsTrust)
Reply:The make me rich quick charity. I do give £5 a month to the RSPCA though.
Reply:I don't give to charities because a huge chunk of it goes to the bosses so if I had a £1 million then I'd open up an animal sanctuary to help any stray animal, wild or domestic and I'd work there part time so I knew they'd be getting the best care. I just don't trust charities.
Reply:I am careful about donations, I don't donate to the nuisance ones who ring our office all day every day, and was made aware recently of the fact that some charities sell your details to other charities just to squeeze a bit more out of it. Next time you donate, just monitor the amount of junk mail and nuisance calls you get in the weeks after.
Reply:Animal charities don't receive any government funding, all the other charities do, so I'd help out all the animal charities
Reply:To poor people first.

Because they need a food.

Second, to aids charity.

Because I do not want to spread it any further.
Reply:I would split the money: Half to cancer research, quarter to cancer care and quarter to NSPCC
Reply:I would give to a few too.

one would be for sick animals, one for sick children, and one for those with cancer.
Reply:Some animal ones

and cancer research
Reply:Cats protection, any wildlife charity and Cancer research.
Reply:There are many deserving charities just crying out for money. I would try to give to the lesser known ones, as they are more in need. Believe it or not, some of the well known charities are actually rolling in it, and don't spend the money as you would expect them too. Some African charities for example, most of the money you donate will actually go towards admin costs. So you do have to be careful.

Mine would go to -

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People - they desperately need to raise funds for a new training centre in Yorkshire.. the waiting list for a dog is currently around 3 years... that is just too long for such an isolating disability to which a dog can make a huge difference.

Would also give money to my local animal rehoming centre, they never destroy a healthy animal and have many long term residents. They also need a new site, as the facilities are quite basic and they cannot keep up with the number of animals being dumped there :(

Those would be my main beneficiaries, but I may also give some to the National Anti Vivesection Society and WSPA.

Cancer charities are a tricky one; I've had it myself, as did a close relative, but many research organisations do extensive testing on animals and I cannot support this in any form. The sheer cruelty they put those animals through, and often at the end of it the research is no use anyway, as animals react differently to drugs and therapies... it has been documented many times that a new medicine successfully tested on rodents was later found to be lethal or of an adverse effect on humans. We need to push forward with testing on humans or human cells, and I would support this in any way possible.
Reply:easy...

half of it to cancer research simply because almost everyone i know has been affected by cancer.

the rest i would split between 3 charities ... first being the N.I. Hospice because they look after so many terminaly ill people then ther would be the childrens hospice for the same reasons and finally i would give some to the RSPCA simply because animals diserve a bit of a hand to cause humans can be awful sometimes
Reply:RSPCA and older people - the two sectors of our society that seem in my view, to be most neglected.
