How do you set up a fundraising event?

I am trying to set up a fundraising event for my Kung Fu group. We intend to climb the 3 tallest peaks in the United Kingdom in 24 hours with all funds raised going to cancer research. I just want to know the most official way to go about it.

How do you set up a fundraising event?
if u live in a small town or village its easy coz most ppl will know about you or know you personally. tell as many people as you know and get them 2 tell other people. then what id do is make a poster advertising exactly what you are doin. make it simple with little writin, photocopie it and put them up round the middle of the town where most ppl are likely to go. then on one of the training sessions or on a wkend see how many ppl r willin 2 go into twn and ask 4 sponsers. im sure wen u tell ppl what its 4 theyll support it. also get every1 in the group 2 ask freinds and family to sponser.
